Hi you guys, Chris @kristina_dumanskaya is on wire from the middle of nowhere i.e. the Trans-Siberian railway!

Today I want to discuss with you the theme of self-training vs. training with a coach.

I generally like to talk about this with people from any field and with you of course, we will talk about the pole dance.

It is obvious that either way is right and possible and the only one thing matters is the fact that people are different, they have different mind, character and experience, that is why they prefer different approach.

So pole self-training fits you if:

  • you have a substantial background in dance or sports,
  • you have good coordination and feel your body
  • you have basic knowledge of anatomy,
  • know how to “read” movements shown on photo/video and repeat them,
  • you make difference between right and left upside down:)

In all other cases it is extremely not suitable for you.

Pole is not checkers, you can easily hurt yourself doing a trick, to which the body is not ready, or doing one hundred attempts using wrong technique.

Just take a look at the whole generation of first pole dancers with distorted bodies due to lopsided body movements: all of them were self-taught.

Nevertheless, wise self-taught individuals without the initial base also exist, we cannot but pay tribute to them.

Mostly they are people who do not feel comfortable in groups or for whom it is important to get to the bottom of things by themselves, even if there will be a little bit more errors on the way.

Perhaps the ideal option for productivity is the rotation of both: when a person first receives material, explanations and is guarded by the coach, and then has the opportunity to “dig” himself, to do training and perfecting material.

We have full gym of such “diggers” during free practice, perhaps the most emotional moment of the day in school:)

  • Did you wonder what method is closer to you? I am, for example, an inveterate self-taught, everything that I ever wanted to know or was able to do well, I studied and learned myself.

Firstly, I’m a loner as a matter of fact, and secondly, almost nobody gives a stuff so structured, the way it should be structured for me.

And tell me what do you prefer? Are you more comfortable by yourself or with a coach? And if with the coach, with a strict or loose? I am really interested in this question.

Our instructors are all experts at the art, and have numerous credentials to their name. They have been pole-dancing for many years, and all of them have plenty to offer not only in technique, but in the hottest new moves and trends pole-dancers use today! Each and every one of them are entirely dedicated to their craft, and strive every day not only to improve their students techniques and help them find their unique style, but also to become the best teachers they possibly can to further mentor their students towards success. They care about teaching, they care about the art, and they care about you, the student.
